Kate and Maria’s friendship began in 2009 when they taught first grade together at a Title I school in Denver, Colorado. While they cherished their roles as educators, they discovered a deeper passion for building meaningful relationships with families and finding ways to empower them. That year, they launched the Adopt A Family program, starting with nine children. Since the program's inception, they have served over 2,500 children, making a significant impact in their community.
Both Kate and Maria are transplants to Denver—Kate from New York and Maria from Mexico. They both love the work they do and are passionate about empowering families. As mothers themselves, they understand the importance of community support and are dedicated to making a difference. They cherish spending time with their own families and friends and feel fortunate to connect with so many incredible people who call Denver home.
